The Label is a small, independent mobile publisher, working with the world’s greatest independent mobile game developers to help bring their visions to life. Our list of partners include Triband, Flighless, Cipher Prime, Ed McMillen, Mark Rubin, and most recently Itay Keren of Untame.
The Label’s story was out of necessity. After starting the Indie Showdown (fka IndiePlus) contest in 2014, we saw so many developers who made inspired, handcrafted experiences who were getting lost in the growth of the free to play business model. They either did not have the size or resources to run games as a service and afford install marketing. The premium game launch closely resembled a “pop and drop” after a platform feature.
The subscription model
The Label has always believed the subscription business model as a means to support indie game makers: A rising tide that can raise all ships. In the beginning our plan was to build our own subscription platform. As soon as Apple and Google announced theirs, we were first on-board and excited to be launch partners on both platforms.
